What's this? The album is done? Why yes, it is! Or at least, it's now available digitally, over yonder. Check it out. Or listen to it in glorious low bitrate right here!

Once again we are going to be participating in Song Fight! Live. This year it's in New York City, at Space on White and the venerable Sidewalk Cafe, June 11-12, 2011. So that we have something new to sell there, we are hard at work on our next album! The title is going to be Love and Monsters. Right now it is shaping up to be way better than anything we've done before, which means it might even aspire to mediocrity this time!

It is of course very different than foodsexsleep, but then again, our entire raison d'être is for that to be the norm, so in that sense we suppose it's more of the... different? In any case, we're very happy with how it's turning out.

More details as they emerge.

While trying to fix comments I ended up just resetting the site to the default themes. Lots of stuff is broken now. I should probably fix it.

For now, you might be looking for original songs, really short songs, or cover songs. I'm not sure where you'll be able to find those, but maybe you'll figure it out.

The recordings from the Zephyr show are now available for your listening displeasure. Relatedly, fluffy performed cello as part of The Orange Collective in this week's Song Fight.

The situation in Haiti continues to be pretty dire, with the death toll rising and the country's infrastructure continuing to crumble, and we want to do our part to help out. CDBaby is already donating $1 for every CD they sell this week, but for us to just dovetail on that and call it a day would be pretty lame. So, for the first 50 physical CDs we sell through CDBaby during CDBaby's promotion (meaning until Feburary 8, 2010), we will be donating $10 to the Red Cross. Plus, if we sell all 50 copies, we'll donate another $500 (making a total of up to $1000).

This isn't just us donating "all profits" or whatever, no, we're donating significantly more than we make on every CD sale, and it is in addition to CDBaby's donation.

We are streaming the show LIVE TONIGHT. Sockpuppet will be going on at 9:30 PM PDT tonight, but fluffy will be playing in a few other bands (Naked Philosophy at 6, John Benjamin Band at 8:30), as well as a couple sets tomorrow! So watch us bring the rock. A kazoo will be involved.

Whilst rehearsing for Song Fight!: Rock and Rocker, fluffy got word that the game Broken Garden was finally released, which is of particular interest in that fluffy did all the abstract blippy music and sound design for this abstract blippy game.

Song Fight! Live: Rock and Rocker is very nearly upon us. fluffy has organized a FULL BAND for this show, and will also be contributing to other peoples' sets, as this is the SONG FIGHT WAY. We are all looking forward to this.

On Saturday, a bunch of copies of foodsexsleep went out to CD Baby in Portland, and they have already been received today (Monday).

Perhaps coincidentally, also on Saturday, fluffy ordered a bunch of fancy socks from Sock Dreams (various argyles, mostly), also in Portland, and they arrived today.

This means that it is mathematically impossible that, assuming they both took I-5 (and really, why wouldn't they?), the Sockpuppet CDs and the new non-puppet socks didn't pass each other on the freeway during their respective journeys. There is something inherently poetic about that, although we're not quite sure what.

foodsexsleep has finally been sent off to manufacturing tonight, and should be available for purchase as a physical CD very soon. It has also been sent off to TuneCore so it should be available for purchase as a digital download within the next 4-6 weeks. When it's available for purchase I guess I'll have to actually set up an "albums" section on this site. Until then, you're probably not reading this anyway.

In lieu of anything interesting to report, it's probably at least worth a mention that we're now putting the finishing touches on our first album, foodsexsleep. After taking a few days to obsessively re-listen to it so we can find everything wrong with it and a reason to keep procrastinating for a few more years, it should be available via digital distribution and, perhaps, physical CD. Watch this space, or at least our RSS feed.

Well, the other band Sockpuppet may have changed their name to Rockboxx, but now there is another band (or actually what appears to be a DJ crew) called "Sockpuppet Soundsystem," which fluffy found out about by seeing them listed on the upcoming shows roster at a club near fluffy's home. They do not seem to have a website, however, so we're unsure how long they have been in operation.

Anyway, the potential for confusion is simultaneously both immense and minuscule. This has only steeled our resolve to finally get a dang album out sometime in the next decade, however!

fluffy is moving to San Francisco, and so our assets are getting split up. Spud gets to keep Octothorpe, and as alimony, fluffy is taking Sockpuppet.

Very soon fluffy will be looking for a new full-time bass player and a full-time drummer (which Sockpuppet never had to begin with). If you're interested, contact fluffy[at]beesbuzz[dot]biz.

Hey, there's another band named SockPuppet now. I'm actually surprised it took this long for someone else to come up with this "clever" band name. (They formed after us, but they have more full-time members — meaning more than one — and actually get around to having gigs regularly so I guess they deserve to be better-known.)

Relatedly, don't forget The Handpuppets (who I don't think have a website) who are another mostly-Song Fight band.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The one true Sockpuppet has prevailed.

Just an FYI: Lately, fluffy has taken to doing karaoke at the Steel Pig (at 89th and Aurora in Seattle), Saturday nights at 9:30. At least the food is awesome.
